Internships at Tea Party

We’re looking for ambitious, creative students who live in the Bay Area for our graphic design and editorial internships in Fall 2008 and Spring 2009. Internship schedules are flexible and most work will be done remotely with occasional meetings as needed. If you are passionate about cultural expression and social justice, if you enjoy working with artists and working collaboratively with a team, if you’re excellent with reaching deadlines and working collaboratively, this is an incredible opportunity. Though internships are unpaid, interns will be able to create a variety of portfolio samples, have exposure to the Bay Area artist community, and, if the interns are college students, they may be eligible for course credit, as well as receive a glowing letter of recommendation from us about your work.

Editorial Interns must have access to a Mac computer and have working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and InDesign. Interns should be extremely detail-oriented and have excellent writing and proofreading skills. Duties may include, but are not limited to, writing content for print publication, email newsletters, and website; reviewing submissions; data entry; bulk mailings; handling subscriptions. Editorial Interns will work off-site approximately 4-8 hours per week.

Graphic Design Interns must have access to a Mac computer and have working knowledge with InDesign, Photoshop, and Illustrator. The Graphic Design Interns will work off-site and maintain regular correspondence with the Art Director and other Design interns, as well as correspond with the Editor-in-Chief in order to complete design and layout for an approximately 80-pg. issue. Hours will vary, but the internship involves roughly a 6-8 hour a week commitment. There will be a few weeks in which hours may be lighter, however, the hours may be heavier just before and during the layout process.

Please e-mail your resume and at least three design or writing samples (as PDF attachments or website links) to Editor-in-Chief, Oscar Bermeo, at oscar.b at gmail dot com by August 1st, 2008 with “Internship application” as the subject heading.
